Première carte mère P4 DDR-SDRam sur double canal

C'est la première carte mère Pentium 4 avec gestion de la DDR-SDRam sur double canal dont nous ayons connaissance. C'est la P4SDX d'ASUSTeK, et elle est basée sur le chipset SiS655. Pour rappel, l'intérêt du dual canal DDR-SDRam est de permettre des performances au moins équivalentes à celles du couple Pentium 4 + Rambus (la Rambus étant déjà gérée en double canal depuis le début sur le Pentium 4), mais pour un prix largement moindre.

Ainsi et avec de la DDR333, la bande passante fournie est de 5.2 Go/s, plus que ne peut avaler le Pentium 4. Le SiS655 gère bien entendu l'AGP 8x, l'ATA133, l'USB 2, le FireWire, un chip sonore AC97 et un contrôleur réseau 10/100.

Caractéristiques de la P4SDX :
- Supports Socket 478 Pentium 4 / Celeron processors with 400/533MHz FSB with 3.06GHz clock-speed and above;
- Can take advantage of the CPUs with the Hyper-Threading technology enabled;
- SiS655 chipset, including SiS963 South-Bridge;
- 4 DIMM slots for up to 4GB of PC2100 or PC2700 (533MHz FSB) DDR-SDRam memory. Dual-channel memory bus support: the memory modules should be identical and installed in pairs.
