Bonjour,

besoin d'aide...

je copie ici mon message envoyé à Symantec Partition Magique et Ontrack Easy Recovery (désolée pour l'anglais. Mais je crois que vous comprenez):

*******************
Hi,

have serious problem here...

some days ago, I couldn't access to windows on my pc. So I got rid of my
disk & put it on another old pc which boots... So I commanded for reparing
windows(on keeping NTFS) on my disk.
The problem is that my windows is now formated in FAT32( ) !
Well well, really "against" my command for simple repair of Ntfs, windows
2000 formated her in Fat32...

Strangeouly it took hours to do it very slowly, then it finished by letting
"installation of Windows" on screen... So, I stopped & lunched again repair
windows.. It gave same result on letting "installation" message again. So
I couldn't put my finger again on it. Like this, fortunately(?) my disk is
just formated, not yet reinstalled windows.

When I access to its disk(oh, I my pc turns without problem for another old
disk actually I'm using !), I see that all folder titles are transformed in
different words, unknown folder names & can't open those folders either on
on Fat32. I'm actually on Ntfs like usual.
I see my old datas are still alive. Oh, their huge size !

From others, I heard that :
1. if I convert my disk from Fat32 to Ntfs, I can simply refind all my
files.
Or, 2. if I access to its Fat32 formated disk from another Fat32 OS, I can
read my files like before.
It's true ?

I can't test it, coz I can't make those backup files on CD-R(problem between
CD writer, media, burning program I can't resolve actually ! Eh ben !).

I have experience with Easy recovery 5.X, it got rid of all file titles &
classified them by completely different order by extensions. Almost of those
application type Which I don't know, so I couldn't open them. Almost of them
had unknown extensions for me & some computer technicians I know. Coz I
couldn't open them, I finally lost more 80% of my data at that time.
It's quite opposite result from what Ontrack Esay recovery says for
advertisement. I was so upset....

Anyhow, I return again to Easy Recovery, coz I can't permit any test game on
using other softwares to resolve my problem. Too dangerous for me. If they
overwrite on them, it'll be very serious. People say that Easy is the best.
I can't allow any mistake which let possibility to lose my files. I'm with
Easy Recovery pro v. 6.03. I'm searching a way sure to recover my files as
they are. Can't take any risk, if you understand.

So, as I wrote, I'm asking what to do to save my files :

1. if I convert its FAT32 to NTFS, my folders will become normal ?
2. if I formated another disk in Fat32 type, I can read my data transformed
in Fat32 ?
Or,
3. if I really need to turn Recovery programs to save my files ?
4. In 3rd case, which prog is the best in this situation ? There're too many
different stuff which say same solution to recover.....
I know that it's stupid question for you in Ontrack. But all problem can
take different solution.

As you can easily imagine, I'll be completely unhappy, if I lose my
files.....
